Lipstick traces on your blouse collar or on any item of clothing leaves an unwanted touch of colour on your outfit. The worst thing about lipstick is it contains dozens of ingredients that all leave different types of stains on your shirt, like oils, waxes and pigments. And these all respond to different kind of stain removal treatments. Oils come out with degreasers, waxes with solvents, and the pigments left behind also require oxidisers to get completely removed. In fact, these pigments can actually dye fabric permanently, but if you’re quick to act, your shirt can be saved. Use a washing detergent, like Ariel, with active ingredients to remove all stain types. Follow our Ariel stain solutions to remove lipstick stains.
Removing lipstick stains
1
Remove excess
To get lipstick out of clothes, scrape off any excess lipstick stains from the garment before rinsing inside out under warm, running water.
2
Pre-treat
For optimal lipstick stain removal, pour Ariel Original Washing Liquid directly onto the stain.
3
Load
Add the lipstick-stained garment directly into the drum of your washing machine alongside similar clothes in terms of colour and fabric type, using the palm trick to determine if your washing machine load is the right size.
4
Dose
Your Ariel pre-treat cap is also the perfect way to dose liquid detergent. Ensure to check the dosing instructions on your pack first & fill it with the appropriate amount of detergent and place it directly into your washing machine’s drum, on top of your dirty laundry.
5
Wash
Wash on the usual cycle, on the hottest wash temperature indicated by the instructions on the garment’s fabric care label.
6
Unload
When the cycle is complete, unload the garments immediately.
