Jam comes in a variety of flavours and colours, which makes it a difficult stain to remove, because each jam has different pigments. Since jam is also an oxidisable stain, this means it’s important to treat jam stains as soon as they happen. You can remove fresh stains easily by soaking and rubbing the stain in cold water before washing it. Do not use hot water. You can also see good stain removal results by washing with a washing liquid containing bleaching agents, like Ariel. So for those times you get jam stains on our favourite shirt, just follow our Ariel stain solutions for great jam stain removal.
Removing jam stains
1
Remove excess
Get rid of any excess jam stains from the garment with a spoon.
2
Pre-treat
Soak in the sink in warm water with ½ a scoop of Ariel Original Washing Powde for 30 minutes.
3
Remove excess again
Repeat step one to get rid of any excess left behind on the garment.
4
Pre-treat
Pour Ariel Original Washing Liquid directly onto the jam stain.
5
Load
Without rinsing off the washing detergent, place the garment into the machine with other items. Leaving the washing liquid on the stain will give your wash that extra boost of cleaning power.
6
Dose
You can also use the cap to ensure you use the right amount of washing liquid. Simply pour the correct dose of washing detergent into the cap, and place it on top of your dirty laundry inside your washing machine’s drum.
7
Wash
Wash on the usual cycle, on the hottest wash temperature allowed by the care label. Make sure you always follow the garment’s fabric care label instructions.
8
Unload
When the cycle is complete unload the garments immediately - or within 2 hours - for best results.
If the jam stain persists after washing, repeat the previous steps before you dry the item, as drying will set the stain and make it harder to remove.
